Empowering critical thinking through our R&I programme

Our internal Research and Innovation programme exists to empower staff to ask demanding questions about what we do and how we do it, and to invest time and energy in developing new methods and answers. We host meetings every two weeks for people to bring ideas and sound them out with colleagues. Everyone is encouraged to be original, creative or just plain eccentric at this stage: we believe that even the strangest of ideas can lead to fresh ways of doing things.

SDG recognised as one of the top 100 NCE companies

We are extremely pleased to announce that Steer Davies Gleave has been recognised as one of the top 100 companies of the year by the New Civil Engineer awards: NCE100 Companies of the Year Awards 2016. 

The NCE100 Companies of the Year Awards recognises and ranks companies for their achievement in five areas that are critical to delivering for clients and making engineering workplaces a great place to be.  
The core themes analysed are: Engineering Equality, Future Engineer, World View, Future Tech and Technical Excellence.

Voice of the Canadian transit industry

In early 2014, we ran our first annual “Voice of Public Transportation Survey” to give Canadian transit professionals an opportunity to share their insights and opinions on the key issues and challenges facing the industry.

We have now completed our analysis of the results, and share in this edition of the Review some of the more interesting findings. Those who responded to the survey will be provided with a full analysis – so be sure to participate in next years’ survey!

On March 25th Jim Steer delivered the President's Lecture at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). His full presentation Transport Planning – Back to the Future, focused on how, in the world of transport, planning is not the enemy of economic ambitions: it's a pre-requisite.

Jim assumed the role of President-Elect in May 2013.
