Hurontario LRT to bring more transit options to Mississauga and Brampton

Steer Davies Gleave was part of the team appointed to provide Preliminary Design & Engineering (PDE) services for the Hurontario LRT project. We produced 22km at-grade urban style LRT alignment designs and a set of complementary complete street designs to respond to the Corridor Vision to transform the Hurontario corridor into a vibrant, higher density corridor with new developments and neighborhoods focusing on new LRT stops.

Major opportunities for convenient transfer to other transit, including the regional GO Rail network were also addressed.

Unlocking the potential of high-speed rail in California

Two ambitious plans are being progressed for high-speed rail systems across California and Nevada. Could a 54-mile section of track along the High Desert Corridor be the key to unlocking the full potential of both?

Throughout the US, and in California in particular, plans for high-speed rail are being progressed. The most advanced are the California High-Speed Rail, with Phase 1 between San Francisco and Los Angeles, and XpressWest, between Las Vegas and Victorville.

Hamilton LRT moves ahead

The Hamilton LRT project, in Ontario’s Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, made a significant step forward earlier this month, gaining approval for its Environmental Project Report (EPR) by the Provincial Government on August 3rd. This news has opened the way for a Public Private Partnership (P3) procurement phase to proceed to detailed discussions with short-listed bidders. Construction is planned to begin in 2019, and the LRT is set to open in 2024.
